Jake Gyllenhaal
A beefed-up Gyllenhaal (as Elwood Dalton) while filming a fight scene for the "Road House" remake at UFC 285 in Las Vegas last weekend (a surprise for the UFC event crowd). An actual UFC cage announcer and an MMA referee participated in the filming. The balance of the movie was shot in the Dominican Republic, a fill-in for Key West. The 1989 original starred Patrick Swayze as Dalton, a former boxer turned bouncer in a road house. Dalton's credentials included a Ph.D degree (no lie). The original was so bad and cheesy it was good. As yet, the remake has no release date. The original version (Swayze) is on Netflix and AMC, or for rent or purchase on Vudu, Amazon Instant Video, iTunes and Google Play (so you can do your homework for future comparison). Popcorn, please.
