Book boys:
Dudes in denim:
Just because...
An article in yesterday’s WSJ
informed me of this item:
Aimé Mpane, a Congolese
visual artist, won a competition for a new sculpture to replace King Leopold’s
statue at the restored and enlarged Royal Museum for Central Africa, located
about 20 miles outside Brussels. His monumental sculpture "Congo, New
Breath" depicts a human rising from the rooted earth and looking to the
sky. The sculpture is fashioned from a wood grid that looms 16 feet tall. When
the Royal Museum for Central Africa reopens next month, his work will be the
main statue visitors see.
...Well, your blogger thinks
that description is all well and good, but c’mon, this is Belgium. Am I the
only one who thinks this looks like a waffle being dipped into chocolate sauce?
Maybe it’s just because it’s Sunday, when I tend to gravitate to the Belgian waffle
station at the brunch buffet.
