The Devil Wears Prada...
The Musical
A Broadway musical adaption of The Devil Wears Prada is being brought to life by two gay male icons. Playwright Paul Rudnick (Jeffrey) will be responsible for the book and lyrics, and music will be provided by Sir Elton John*. Based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 best-selling book and a 2006 film adaptation starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, the story is about Andrea, an aspiring journalist who works for Miranda Priestley, a cutthroat boss at an iconic fashion magazine.
The film was a blockbuster success, grossing over $300 million worldwide. Rudnick has previous experience with The Devil Wears Prada, having contributed to the screenplay. Elton John is no stranger to Broadway – he wrote the scores for the stage musicals The Lion King, Aida and Billy Elliot. No time line for the production has been released.
