Breaking news:
The Oxford Dictionary, the largest English language dictionary, has updated its definition of marriage to include same sex couples. Last Sunday the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) website displayed the new definition. Future print editions will use the updated listing.
The old entry for marriage as “the condition of being a husband or wife” was embellished with “the relation between persons married to each other” plus the note “the term is now sometimes used with reference to long-term relationships between partners of the same sex.”
A tiny step perhaps, but progress nevertheless.
