Ansel Elgort...
...started out as a dancer (he began ballet lessons at age 9). Which should come in handy while filming Steven Spielberg's West Side Story (release date December 2020), a "reimagining" of the classic Broadway musical from the 1950s. Egort, cast in the lead as Tony, says the music is the same, but the story is "Spielberg's vision". Uh, right.
Elgort has an unfortunate thud of a film out right now, The Goldfinch (photo above), but he recently launched Red Remix, a new fragrance for Ralph Lauren (he chose the mix of scents and selected the shape of the bottle). Juggling careers as a movie star, TV actor, singer, model, and DJ seems undaunting for this 25-year-old wunderkind. Oh, and don't get your hopes up; he's straight. But that didn't stop him from winning the title role in a biopic about gay pianist Van Cliburn, a project forever stuck in predevelopent hell.
