Gay moderators lead Democratic debate

Out and proud gay CNN journalists Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon moderated last night’s Democratic debate in Flint, Michigan. Both Clinton and Sanders delivered impassioned opinions on topics that matter. What a contrast to the Republican reality TV carnival shows masquerading as debates.

Don Lemon came out in 2011 through the pages of his memoir, Transparent. He was voted one of the 150 most influential African-Americans by Ebony Magazine (2009). Anderson Cooper came out – well, I can’t think of a time when anyone actually thought Cooper was straight.

Cooper, 48, has co-written a memoir with his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, 91. The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son Talk About Life, Love, and Loss will be published next month by Harper Collins (release date April 5) in advance of Nothing Left Unsaid, an HBO documentary about the famous mother and son duo to air on HBO, at the Sundance Film Festival and on CNN.
